Security Officers serve as ambassadors for Fear PDX by maintaining a welcoming yet authoritative presence, monitoring guest behavior, responding to incidents, and supporting staff throughout the event. You will work closely with management, actors, and event staff to preserve the immersive atmosphere while enforcing safety policies and providing exceptional guest service.

Applicants for this position must be at least 18 years of age.

• Patrol the attraction, queue lines, parking areas, and surrounding property to ensure a safe environment for guests and employees.
• Maintain a visible security presence to deter disruptive behavior and promote a safe, family-friendly atmosphere.
• Monitor crowd behavior and identify potential safety concerns before they escalate.
• Enforce all Fear PDX policies and procedures in a professional, respectful manner.

• Welcome guests with professionalism while maintaining a confident security presence.
• Assist guests with directions, questions, and general event information.
• De-escalate conflicts calmly and professionally while maintaining a positive guest experience.
• Escort guests or staff when necessary to ensure their safety.

• Respond promptly to medical emergencies, guest concerns, altercations, and other incidents.
• Coordinate with management, local emergency responders, or law enforcement when necessary.
• Complete accurate incident reports and document all significant events.
• Preserve the safety of guests and employees while minimizing disruption to attraction operations.

• Monitor entrance and exit areas to ensure smooth guest flow.
• Assist with crowd control during peak attendance, emergency evacuations, or special events.
• Prevent overcrowding and maintain safe occupancy levels.
• Support line management while preserving the immersive haunted experience.

• Maintain regular communication with the Head of Security, management, and event supervisors using radios and established communication protocols.
• Immediately report suspicious activity, safety hazards, equipment failures, or policy violations.
• Work collaboratively with actors, concessions, admissions, and event staff to resolve issues quickly and professionally.

• Remain calm under pressure while making sound decisions in fast-paced situations.
• Exercise good judgment and discretion when interacting with guests.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding incidents and internal operations.
• Present a professional appearance and represent Fear PDX with integrity.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Previous security, law enforcement, military, customer service, or event experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the event.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and throughout the Halloween season.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus but not required.

• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds when necessary.
• Respond quickly to emergencies, including walking, jogging, or assisting guests.
• Maintain awareness in low-light, loud, and high-energy environments.

Compensation & Employment Details

Hourly Rate: $17.50-$18.50

Employment Type: Seasonal/Temporary

Expected Season Duration: Late September - Early November 2026

Work Schedule: Evenings, weekends, and holidays required during the operational season.
